Pristaffer Aarron Schmidt of Schmidty’s Guides service put our new Dirty Troll Bloody Hex Pinkler spinner to the test along side cut plug to determine the effectiveness of our new Bloody Hex design salmon trolling spinner.
It was a picture perfect day on the water over all pretty smooth without much chop. The average was 3′ – 5′ swell with the occasional 8 footer.
Dirty Troll Bloody Hex Pinkler VS bait 5 miles off shore of the Columbia
we headed out to the CR buoy for an afternoon run. 200′ depth running 2.5mph with 12oz lead. 18″ bumper to a blue haze pro troll, 4′ leader to the spinners. pinks were money. other rod had a sweet Abby triangle flasher with same lengths and a red label herring with a tight spin
only 2 rods out. 1 hatchery and 6 natives coho plus 1 hatchery chinook on spinner but we released the chinook (prefer eating coho) 3 hatchery coho and 7 natives on bait. landing ratio was even. lots of fish not landed because we weren’t netting them unless we knew they were hatchery lol. trolled for about 1hr to 1.5hrs at most. constant action
offshore Columbia river
5 miles offshore
bar was not bad 3-5′ swell with the occasional 8′ but clean
